In 1986, Howth Yacht Club had again outgrown their premises and it was time to move on. Following their departure the building was used for various purposes including fish offices, but by late in the 20th century the building had become dilapidated and in need of intense renovation. Howth Yacht Club

Howth Yacht Club was founded as Howth Sailing Club in 1895. Howth Sailing Club later combined with Howth Motor Yacht Club, which had operated from the West Pier since 1935, to form Howth Yacht Club. Laser sailors across all three rigs got prepared for week 3 in what started out an overcast cold morning (almost) worthy of the series title ‘Frostbites’. HYC has a Puppeteer 22 for sale, courtesy of a kind donation by a member and now affording an opportunity to race as part of Howth YC's largest one-design fleet for a modest price.
